Island Encounters facilitates various short-term mission outreaches/encounters throughout the year, hosting short-term teams from universities and churches. We also host interns throughout the year. Mission Encounters focus on service and cross-cultural experiences as well as exposure to and training in missions. Teams generally work on a project at Oasis Farm, conduct Kid’s Clubs in various neighborhoods and schools, volunteer at Loloma Home (a home for single mothers and orphans nearby) and participate in various other trips, excursions and experiences.
Our heart is to stretch, challenge, and open the eyes of young people in order to make them aware of the needs in the world and God’s calling to us as Christians. It’s not lying on the beach in a hammock for two weeks . . . it’s serving the poor, living simply, and seeking life transformation through a closer walk with Christ. Come experience both sides of the postcard. . . the beauty of Fiji as well as the poverty and the needs. . . and let God work in and through you.
If you’re a leader interested in bringing a group from your school or church, please contact us for availability.
